Once upon a Christmas
We were together
A meeting
A pleasure
Once upon a Christmas
We parted from each other
A parting
A pain
Once upon a Christmas
Two hands held each other
Close to the fire
A pleasure
Once upon a Christmas
Two souls torn from each other
Beyond the cool seas
A pain
Once upon a Christmas
Went for long walks together
In the garden of ecstasy
A pleasure
Once upon a Christmas
Lonely nights away from each other
In a cold house, in a cold bed
A pain
Once upon a Christmas
We’ll again be together
The pleasure and pain
We’ll share with each other.
