Gershon Wolf Poet Couplet

Please Forgive Me

Forgive me, my friends
  if I don't get back to you
quite as fast as I usually do

Because I'm a bit overwhelmed
  at how international conflicts are swirling

So even though I know God's at the helm
  I fight back when bombs and barbs at my people they're hurling...

One small request of you I have --
  Look at a map of the Middle East:

Compare the area of the 23 Arab nations
  with that of Israel, the size of Penn Station*

Yet with all that acreage of their own
  The Arabs would kick the Jews out of their tiny home.**

*Actually, Israel is about the size of New Jersey. I.e., a 'nothing.'
**Keep in mind that the nation of Israel was there 2,000+ years 
before Mohammed's revelation, i.e., before the first Muslim Arab.

The media does not distinguish between Palestinians and Hamas, and neither does Allah (posing under another name). Time for another flood! It is my opinion that most wars are fought because of the lust and greed of a few powerful people. They don't care how many people have to suffer as long as they can fill their coffers. Harry Horsman May 24, 2021 at 11:51 PM There is no reason for conflict any where in the world, yet since the beginning of time a small band of people or a solitary person, have a need of power at any cost. I believe those that are not brain washed, want a peaceful existence. Here on soup is a prime example of this. Oh yes we get the bad eggs every now and then, but it is soon sorted. There is nothing to forgive Gershon, your poetry and beliefs are respected with me, as are my sentiments with all peace loving folk in the world. Gershon Wolf May 25, 2021 at 6:20 PM Actually, while most Israelis and many Palestinians want peace, not one member of Hamas does. As long as that is the case, there will be no peace. I may have burst your bubble here, but Hamas has but one objective: To murder Jews everywhere on the planet and to throw Israel into the sea. Remember, they are terrorists on a par with Bin-Laden and his mates. Sounds harsh, and it is. :) gw

It sure must seem futile. As I reflect on things now, this is the 4th Gaza explosion, all started by Hamas. They are jockeying for position, both in the eyes of the Gazans, who are still under the Palestinian Authority (not Hamas), and in the world. I think that with all the coverage of people killed, people have started to 'root for the underdog.' So Hamas is positioning itself for a victory somehow --- unless Israel lowers the boom. That's my take. :) gw
