Notes About The Poem

This poem is included in my Book/eBook ‘Clive’s Uni-Verse – A Cornishman’s take on life’.  Published by Olympia Publishers in Jan 2022.

Please Don'T Try and Push Me

Please don’t try and push me,
Don’t hustle and crowd me in,
I need some space to find myself,
To work out where I fit in.

Please don’t try and push me,
Just let me go at my own pace,
As the tortoise proved to the hare,
There’s more than one way to win a race.

Please don’t try and push me,
Don’t assume that you know best,
Although we all look much the same,
I am very different from the rest.

Please don’t try and push me,
Just let me go at my own speed,
I know where I want to go in life
And I’m sure I will succeed.

Hi Clive, this really spoke to me. I’ve been prodded and poked as a child and youth just because I was different and I had to keep telling people to lay off. Thank you for this. I’m glad I discovered you today. Blessings, Jennifer

Hello Jennifer, Glad to hear you managed to resist all of the unwanted pressure in your younger life. It is very important to find your own path in life and not just be herded towards the motorway! With nearly eight billion people on this small planet of ours, being 'different' is a good thing ~ Clive :)

Sage advice to one and all, Clive. As they say, 'Push, push, push me -- right out the door!' Thanks, Gershon
