Please Don'T Cut

The weight on your shoulders is too much to bear You're looking for comfort in a time of despair I've been through it, so I can't express it enough No matter what you go through please don't cut I know what it's like to feel the blade against my skin I know what it's like to have to wear long sleeved jumpers on hot summer days People telling you to take your coat off and put your jumper away But you can't, so make up excuses like I'm cold and then you grin No one talks about this subject but so many suffer It starts off as a stress reliever but soon becomes an addiction like any other You become more isolated, and become scared that your secrets will be known You want help, but because of the judgement you're forced to go through it alone I promise you, you have the strength in you to overcome it I've been there, and realized there are a lot of better ways to find comfort I've got scars that some people have looked at me in disgust But now they're covered with tattoos, because I don't want people to see where I cut I don't want the same to happen to you, so please find another way to cope Write poems, draw, go for a run, there are numerous ways you can find hope If you're going through this, like I was, I wish you all of the luck I know you have the strength in you, so that you no longer have to cut The weight on your shoulders is too much to bear You're looking for comfort in a time of despair I've been through it, so I can't express it enough No matter what you go through please don't cut
