Please Do the Popular Jeru Song and Dance

Instead of bombing, shelling and trashing our neighbors Let’s all do the highly popular fun ‘Jeru’ dance By ‘Jeru’, I mean the Jerusalema beats and vibes Of South Africa. My friends, imagine that we’re not strangers To each other, because we are all brothers, sisters and cousins Let’s stop the deadly explosions in the streets of Ukraine Let’s stop bombing and slapping the mountains of Afghanistan Let’s stop the evil and senseless bombings for the sake of humanity Let’s stop the nasty nuclear cruise missiles and the glide bombs Let’s feed the children and eradicate poverty and misery Especially excessive or extreme hunger. Let’s stop the pogroms Let’s be clean competitors and the champions of everlasting Peace Let’s stop the daily wars of our lives from the Middle East To Bagdad, from the shanty and small towns to the streets of Kiev Oh! Yes, we are indeed the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve Let’s do the song and dance of Master KG and Sister Nomceko Zikode Let’s spread harmony, dignity and love in the deep Valley Let’s feel good about ourselves to make the late Miriam Makeba Very proud. Wake up! Get up! And stand up to talk to each other Stop the kidnappings everywhere, stop distributing weapons To evil and wrong hands. We don’t need the bombs and the harpoons Quit, stop, and stop creating more enemies and more unfriendly situations Let’s stop all chaos and mayhems, and let’s invent positive celebrations Let’s create beautiful rainbows in the blue skies. Let’s have Peace In the hearts. Let’s chat, play and laugh; and enjoy divine feasts Let’s enjoy the ‘Jerusalema’ dance. Put the deadly weapons away Destroy the bombs in the name of God. Let’s talk, laugh and play. Copyright © March 2022, Hébert Logerie, All rights reserved Hébert Logerie is the author of several books of poetry.
