Pleasantly Petrified

wild flowers jubilate
        along country roads
           that they prettify;

     yellow radiance here,
        red exuberance there
           pleasantly petrify

     bleary, blood-shot eyes
        of smog-dazed urbanites
           needing to purify

     thoughts and dreams
        that city life and strife
           addle and putrefy.
