Playing To Win

Good morning, squash champion in the making, good morning! Where you are, it is sure to be a beautiful morning.. With all those friends and familiar faces around you.. I'm sure this playing in competitions is just great for you.. This little good morning poem is just to start off your morning... Assuming you have had a sound sleep until you awoke this morning... Hope you have had some sweet dreams last night... Maybe in your dreams you did overcome someone after a tough fight... Your victor yesterday, I think you had a chance against her while in court... The scores you got shows that you were not that far off.. Your second set was well played, having deueced but you lost... With a little more care and luck you could have won that set... Remember what I have told you countless times about mindset.. If your play reaches deuece, concentrate a little more.... For in a deueced game it is 50-50, a lucky nick or two is all you need... Focus well and get that fortuitious nick when a win you are in sore need.., Once you get a win, your opponent, she will surely be much rattled.... She'll be thinking, "Gosh, I 've got to win the next one or I'll be in trouble"... She will be feeling pressured, and probably tries to play better.... But at the same time you should be thinking, "Hey, I will be able to get another...." That is Confidence, that you'll always find once you get a win.... Telling yourself and believing it will help you push further for another win.... And if you presevere, with luck you'll be 2 sets up and close to another win.. These wins creates pressure for your opponent despite her attempts to win...
