Too English for me, David. Way over my head. When I read Dilly for clues, I looked up Dame Edna Everidge I do like her wisteria hue hair, reminds me of Divine our (Hollywood's) drag queen! So here it goes...Nothing unusual I know a horse will eat its fodder!

Dilly has totally thrown a spanner in the works on this one, Really has nothing to do with Dame Edna, I thought everyone would get it, playing possum = playing dead like the possum does when attacked, but I’m guessing the rattlesnake swallowed it down regardless, hope that clears it up, wait til I get my hands on Dilly Dally, lol! cheers David

Hello David, Ahhh the harsh realities of life that stuff happens. I did chuckle at your dark humor. - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Thanks Daniel, nothing like a little measured dark humour, to keep the mind focused, and harsh reality certainly brings it home, cheers David

Lol, after reading Dillys comment all I'm seeing is Dame Edna. Mind you she isn't playing anymore, RIP. Tom

She who was a he, passed on not too long ago, or did she lol, we really can’t be sure of anything these days or who’s playing who, unless in the belly of the beast, cheers David

This one requires knowledge and now I'm lost in it! On first reading my brain produced Dame Edna Everidge - which entirely prevented understanding haha. I now understand the title but found out they can withstand rattle snake bites (not digestion though I'm sure). I'm mostly defeated on this one for the extent of it but felt a pang about a playful expression getting a sudden dose of serious.

It certainly needs knowledge of the possum Dilly, but once the reader understands the layout, it becomes ironic as in wordplay from a human perspective, it’s mostly above the surface, apart from the mother who unfortunately is inside the serpent’s tum, don’t go any deeper, your comment is bang on, cheers David
