Notes About The Poem

"Playing for Dimes"   Old Vet in Santa Barbara, Cal

Playing For Dimes

Came across this old vet
From yesterdays gone.
His voice full of tears.

He sang for his flag,
And played for the boys
He once knew.

This and “Old Man and his Friends” are both real and poignant. There’s something about the two poems that had me re reading them. There is depth in so few lines and both are a sad indictment of society. You say so much in so few words. Cheers - Gary

Many thanks, Gary. I took the photos several years ago, knowing there was a poem in each one. It took a while to get them to Jel. I do believe that there is much beauty in simplicity. Cheers back at you.
