Plastic Eyes

My plastic eyes don't see a thing
I twist and I writhe
I'm a prisoner in my own mind

I can feel the sunlight against my flesh
I'm roasting rather than basking

There's no salvation for men like me
No Heaven we can crawl towards
Not when I'm being dragged to Hell

Moment by moment the walls get taller
Casting me in shadow

I want to escape, I want to escape
Please, God, just let me escape
I sinned and I sinned
And I grinned and I grinned
But I've got to break free

Don't you see I'll be a better man
Than I was back then
A lifetime of broken promises
To the God I never believed in

My plastic eyes don't see a thing
Not anymore when I've roasted alive
Sweat rolls down my cheeks
My breath comes out in quick pants

I'm afraid, I'm afraid
I'm so afraid of the justice I've deserved so long
But still the tears fall from sightless eyes
Still the pain fills up my chest
And I'm bursting with emotion
Because I let everyone down

My plastic eyes don't see a thing
I twist and I writhe
A prisoner to death
