Planet Hope
who calls the loon's haunting echo?
{with coal-drunk countries, acid rain}
who sings the warblers pine-forest song?
{now that the sun filters no more}
who sings the river's darkness chants?
{with promise of cleanup long-tired past}
who sings the nation's peaceful hymns?
{now that the peacemakers triumphant war}
who sings the whale's mournful romance?
{now that the reef's coral is bleached}
steady ye lads of time-lost battles....
{winged chariots will come to hasten your cause}
lo though the truth is covered with ash
{burnt offerings left at the alter of profit}
lo though the truth is blanched from our brain
{wagged to the ants, eager to march}
lo though our will has lost its way
kindness and love
will forever reign
