The poem is a subjective overhaul of the political situation in Nigeria. Through the eyes of the poet personae *I*, the state of the nation is mirrored using religious symbols like scepter, hell fire, Satan, rod, demi- god, etc. It's diction is shmoky and largely religious. Words such as sins, Armageddon etc have religious undertone and sometimes they are contradictory eg *White blood* which is an Oxymoron . Through the eyes of the poet personae identifiable by the use of the personal pronoun *I* , the state of the nation is revealed... It's diction is simple. Lastly, an understanding of the poet's background will help shed light and knowledge towards understanding and critiquing the poem effectively.
