Pin the Tail On the Donkey

Pin The Tail On The Donkey Eyes exquisitely piercing Cut me deep with lure, Seeing all that's fearsome Yet so innocent and so pure. Fluttering like a butterfly, Squinting like a whore, To be no more than stupified Was to be a man, no more. Beckoned me as I crumbled, Took me, a quivering fool And as I fumbled and bumbled Loved me as a mule, Bucking like a prancing pony I kicked like a jockey's heel, To reach the finish, if only, I could have told you how I feel. Eyes exquisitely hostile Trampled me with scorn, Bleeding boots and hobnail Were used yet never worn. Discarded like a party game, Broken, twisted and wonky, So-called friends and lovers came To pin the tail on the donkey. © RJVHorton2016
