Pillars of Light

Pillars of light form between clouds
Supporting the sky
Of puffed gray, cotton vapor.

The smell of fresh earth arises
And reminds me
That light returns
After the darkness
Color returns
After the gray
And I return
After the words
For the pillars of light
That dry my rain.
