a young professor doing research
my grasp of truth
was quick to form
and
i began
my earnest search
for a one-horned unicorn
so
i put on a yellow slicker
and
i went out in the storm
but
the weather got much thicker
and i missed the unicorn
it was like
reaching for a rose
and finding a cutting thorn
i cried
and blew my streaming nose
and missed my unicorn
then
a cat in striped pajamas
his outfit so elegantly worn
said
look in the Bahamas
you'll find your unicorn
i no longer care a fig
and I'm no longer forlorn
because
i've seen a swimming pig
i don't need a unicorn

Who’d have thought that pigs could swim, perhaps it’s their way of keeping trim, and avoiding the roasting tin. Enjoyed the humour… Beryl
