Pieces

(Jordo)

He approaches her slowly
She is filled with butterflies
Bubbling through her
A smile lights up her face

The warmth of their embrace connects them
She fits against him
Together their bodies are molded to perfection
As he holds her he closes his eyes, sealing the moment in his heart

As they walk hand in hand
His unhappiness engulfs him
Creating awkwardness
She feels it and knows, this won’t be easy for either

He edges closer to her
Her heart beats furiously
Their shoulders touch as he takes her hand
Lacing their fingers together

He turns to face her, their eyes locked on each other
His bright green gaze deeply into her pale blue
He leans in
Lips meet, hearts burn with fire, he pulls away

They both close their eyes
Willing this moment to last forever
Both know its time to let go
Their existence together can be nothing more than a fragment of their imaginations

He takes her chin in his hand
Bringing his lips to hers
He pulls her close
Their kiss passionate and magical

As they break apart, she fights back tears
Although it has to be this way
His words still cut her deeply
Leaving painful, invisible scars

She watches him as he walks away
Tears streaming down her cheeks
And her heart shatters
Into a million little pieces
