Pieces

What from the distance seems
like a monolithic mass,
reveals its true identity only from up close.
Individual entities emerge
with clearly defined shape, appearance and function,
each influenced by its location.
Units that form families, societies, nations
the whole magnificent picture.
If I know somebody
who knows somebody else
who in turn, knows you,
then how many links apart are we?
How much easier would life be
if we all remembered
that we are pieces of the very same mosaic?
Strokes of paint in one amazing masterpiece?
So thank you for being who you are,
as together we form this
wonderful puzzle called our planet.
Our home.
