Piece By Piece

She sits in the corner and rocks to and fro searching for memories she lost a long time ago She closes her eyes and sits back in her chair looking for faces and places that are no longer there she fidgets with her buttons makes noises not words trying to recall things she has heard she stares out of the window at the flowers and leaves but no longer sees the wood through all of the trees Locked in her body cacooned in her mind there are plenty of exits but she can't read the signs cursed by this illness she is losing the fight encompassed by darkness where once there was light When the time comes there will be grief and relief for years you have been slipping away bit by bit piece by piece
