Sometime between eight and
ten I wrote “I hate piano!”
in my exercise book and
that was the end of lessons.
No great loss to music, but when
I chill to Jarret’s Koln Concert
or as icicles run down my back
listening to the soloist play
Bethoven’s Emperor Concerto,
I wish I hadn’t done that
because it wasn’t, isn’t true.
