Phone Calls From Home
Mom, I’m waiting for you.
Darling, we are all waiting for you.
I promise I’m not guilty.
We know.
I promise I’ll come home normal.
Just let them help you.
I told you- they aren’t helping!
Goodnight, darling.
The voices that usually startle me, and keep me awake-
Now they are the only ones who can calm me to sleep.
Goodnight, darling.
It is like I hear her voice echo, but it’s all wrong.
It’s not quite her voice…
But it’s better than any drug they’ve given me.
It’s not quite her…
But it is the voice I depend on.
