Phantom Big Right Toe
I feel it though it is not there
it itches
Infection to the bone
to save the foot
Amputate the right big toe
No prosthetic needed
I can walk just fine
the other four toes still keep me balanced
Diabetes got another digit
Years ago the left pinky toe was lost
Now I am eight toes
I felt no pain, feet are numb
I accepted it too easily
as if I knew it was bound to happen
At times I feel as though I am moving it
my phantom big right toe
At times I feel it throbbing
my phantom big right toe
Scratch the big left toe
and it will trick the mind
and ease the itching of the phantom big right toe
a doctor advised
It worked
go figure...
