Phantom Affair

I wonder where you are
even though you sit here by me.
In your eyes there is a distance
I cannot perceive. 
Your thoughts are far from me.
I cannot compete with that which I cannot see.
Is she here with you? 
Does she whisper in your thoughts?
Does she walk through your dreams?
Is this phantom desire only an apparition? 
Or a soulless heart who seeks to tear us apart?
Should I not suspicion?
Should I panic at the thought or seek appeasement
for my broken heart.

I watched her linger in doubt and heartache over a husband that proved untrue to her not in the usual adultry one would think but to an addiction to pornography. Its funny how one can not compete with shadows
