Peter and Me
Peter and Me
Peter and me, as best friends can be
Often did things that we would regret
Acting the fool, thinking we were both cool
Here is one time I’ll never forget
Peter and I, a little bit high
Drinking from Malt Liquor cans
Thought we would try (by that he meant I)
A test on the quickness of hands
So Peter and me in his little MG
Out on a country road
Set up cans on the fly (again I mean I)
And back to retrieve them we rode
Peter said let us try (here again he meant I)
To pick up the cans from the car
With the door open wide and me leaning outside
It’s a miracle I’m still alive
Now Peter you see liked to dare things of me
And I, like a fool, took the dares
Oh, I picked up the cans, knuckles raw on my hands
And thinking back now it still scares
Sure Peter and me didn’t always agree
But that didn’t impair our friendship
And now he’s moved away, Philippians by the bay
I hope he comes back on a trip
But he best be awares, I no longer take dares
I’ve gotten too old to comply
We’ll just reminisce about that and this
Best friends, that was Peter and I
