Perspective of a Pill Bottle

I’m here to drive the edge away Though I just make you feel broken and ashamed I leave you in a cloud but dull the pain I shape your actions and warp your brain They say I will to make you sane Calm the rage, slow the train of thought Each day closer to our expiration date A balancing act, careful not to tip the weights Too much equals disaster, too little and it ends the same You come and go while I sit and wait It’s my turn when you’ve had all that you can take I win the battle as you collapse on the floor I watch as they burst through the door I’m along for the ride as we tear through the night With each breath you fight; neons in sight They pump out the poison; you’re barely hanging on You wake up and I am gone, never to return I doubted you; you’re strong. . . Reclaim the voice within Never give in

Very powerful message in this creativity written poem, LJ. I had a friend who was (is?) addicted to pain killers and saw the effect on her personality over a period of time...sad. A 7!
