Persephone's Return

Persephone has returned to us
I know
I hear the swollen rivers chorus
See the glow
Of the calm maturing sun
But I warn
Do not dance before you stack the hay
Fill the barn
For Hades bride cannot stay
She ate before she came
And must cross old styx again

And so we too are born
To linger under the moon awhile
Toot love's horn
And sniff the fragrance of the wild
But we have tasted the pomegranate fruit
Find inside all knowledge
The seeds of evil
And our tongues seduced
Like hungry Persephone
Cannot spit them out

And yet to be or not to be
I chose to be
Glad God brought me forth
To feel the sun upon my skin
And despite eternity
Eclipsed by sin
I find grace like Persephone
To revel here awhile
And from each season learn
To trust
And wait in faith
My second turn
For which my heart
Eternal yearns

Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld...we all have some dark parts inside us...Loved your second stanza. I will read more of your poems when I will have time, I've been kinda busy lately, but I really like reading you. Emilia:)
