Perseids
We
lay on
the warm sand
eyes cast skyward
searching the dark sky
for sparks of light, thrown by
a Greek god, which then fall to
Earth, flashing through this moonless night.
Stray souls flitting neath the predawn sky
before they vanish in the endless dark.
Bound together in that skyfall shower
our bodies transcended mortal flesh
to move beyond the physical,
as form and spirit conjoin
to kindle a new spark
which over time would
grow to become
the infant
that was
you.
