Permanence Ii.

I felt you, and perhaps
for the last time, my dear,
reeling from the collapse...
I knew there was a tear
and yes, I saw it fall.
Did you hear the break
of the heart you said felt all
(the same one you forsake)?
But you never did believe
I noticed anyway,
and wanted only to deceive
and lead this love away
from truth you saw as evident:
"healing comes when you repent"
