Notes About The Poem
Depression is dark, cold, crushing and lonely. Yet look through a different scope, the horizon's a beautiful sight. Keep fighting, people!

Periscope

The rain had been pouring for
Awhile now, waters rose to meet you
Sinking down below the waves
The cool dark blue envelops you,
Its crushing embrace seems familiar

Awaken, cough up water
Upon a cold metal floor
Dim red lights illuminate,
Shower the metal with luminescent blood
It seemed as if the shadows only grew

Wandering through hallways,
Winding through the murk
There's a periscope on a platform
Over the quiet din that's humming
The looking glass sees what's coming

Cautiously approach, footsteps echo
Through the scope you see the sky
Though the crushing blue can be heard inside
The periscope is warm, as if
The bright side's not too far away
