Perhaps

Perhaps you've never shed a tear
Near someone that you hold dear,
And your resolve is made of stone;
But we all cry when we're alone.

Perhaps your pain is self induced,
Because you fear no single noose,
And your happiness is postponed,
Because you only cry alone.

Perhaps you've never given in,
To feelings that won't let you win,
And love is what you can't condone.
So now I cry when I'm alone.

Perhaps there is a middle ground,
Dangerously safe and sound,
That you ache for in your bones,
But you'd rather cry alone.
