Summertime remembered 'twas when we met
By banks of Avon where water runs deep
Burnt into my heart how could I forget
So now your indifference makes me weep.
You ignore me while you flaunt new passion
Why am I discarded so ruthlessly?
False love, you pledged you heartless assassin
I now plead guilty to credulity.
My eyes are dry all my tears have been shed
Was lost for a while but now I am strong
Heart wound not mortal nonetheless I bled
perfidious lover silenced love's song
So, spinster for life is what I will be
No handsome gallant on his bended knee.
This is a very basic sonnet. 10 syllables per line, rhyming scheme 3 stanzas and couplet ending. Iambic Pentameter eludes me at the moment.
