Perfect First...

A first love
My first love
He was perfect
More handsome then the shining sun
Eyes clearer then the skies
Hair cocoa colored perfection
Freckles ever so light high on his cheek
Jaw set, yet soft
Smile; the kind that makes you melt

A first love
My first love
He was perfect
Until he rips you apart
Spits in your face
Hands back every ounce of love you gave
Never looks back
Leaving you bleeding, clutching your side for a breath
Tears streaming down your face, vision gone blurry

A first love
My first love
He was perfect
He made me suffer
But you can never have love
Without that perfect first...

Yes, Jen, that first love prepares you well for those who follow. The feelings you describe capture well the sadness experienced when your "first" love ends.
