Perch

We can say goodbye now and slow the tears
For we will have eternity together
We are only gone for such a small time when we have eternity together
Seeing you sunrise to sunset
Your breath, hot on my neck
And sunlight in my hair
Waiting, it won’t be too long now
6 feet under
We will rise and float together in the same frequency
I turn to you and say “let’s do it again”
Fall down to earth
You plant your roots
I’ll gather my nest
And make my perch in your tall branches
Always flying back
I will always be flying back to you
