Perceptibly Slow
Dredging up memories you once let go
stirs up muddy waters laced with regret.
And at times, time seems perceptibly slow,
pausing on the things you want to forget.
Memories, lacking both substance and weight,
can't control the misery they release.
And when sadness sets the course of your fate,
tears of loneliness just tend to increase.
When faith pays no attention to your cries,
anxiety drives you close to insane.
And so, you look for ways to compromise,
as crying eyes spill the tears they contain.
You dismiss desire with an angry heart,
but love's a miracle gleaned from the soul.
And although its foundation was torn apart,
hope gathers the pieces and makes them whole.
Initiating change is always hard,
but don't be scared to pursue love again.
For forsaking your dreams without regard
will inevitably lead to more pain.
