People Are Terrified of Sad Feelings

I do not know why people hurt other people’s feelings.
I do not know why parents call their children mean names.
I do not know why people hit their children with belts.

I do not know why lovers get angry and decide to hate each other.
I do not know why they want to hurt their child by showing this hate.
I do not know why they do not notice how sad this hate makes their children.

I do know that big bullies raise little bullies.
I do know that little bullies are sad like big bullies.
I do know that people masquerade sad feelings as angry feelings
Because people are terrified of sad feelings.

Why our society accepts angry feelings as respectable
And sad feelings as unacceptable I will never know.
Which is why helping the bullies by encouraging them to
Remember their deep-down hidden sad feelings is extremely difficult.

Deep write... It hurts so much to see this playing out and sometimes not be able to do anything as the parents are unwilling to admit that there is a problem and that their child is hurting. I know a little boy who is acting out in outrageous ways because he feels unloved- and the more he acts out, the more everyone pushes him away. I am terrified to know where it will end. ;(

It is terrifying, Rhona. I often want to grab up children and save them, knowing I will probably be arrested thwarts me.
