People

They start out in youth as marionettes,
often as their own puppeteers,
clasping unseen crossed sticks
with unseen wires attached,
sometimes getting twisted in their own strands.

Once people get past the adolescent plagues
unique to to them,
they find the way to tilt the guide -
pulling shoulders straighter
with their hidden puppet strings
as insecurities dissolve
and slowly, foolhardiness recedes.

Joining the throng of all the puppeteers,
some become
masters at their craft,
manipulating others,
while some prefer to
simply play the role of marionette.
But everyone at one time or another
works the strings. . .

When people learn the “secret”
embracing life and losing woodenness. . .
they grow to understand
it’s not obligatory ,
nor is it even wise,
always to make sure
the guiding, unseen threads remain
untangled.

Great job, Andrea. This poem touches many of the emotions I wrote about in my "Blind Regret" that you commented on. Sincere congrats on your win. Dan C ps. Regarding your question about her still being with me...No, she is not. I even tried to court her over again, but she filed for divorce from me after 4 yrs of marriage. Don't feel too badly for me, my second wife and I have been together for almost 35 years. One door may close, but another always opens. I was just young and fooolish

btw was just having fun with that Senryu-- offered to put up an "ad" for Wilma aka siren-- I think you called her that first ;) & zim dollars is something that I got from her (she says it's practically worthless or something, hope my memory is right!) & 30-45 is actually the age range for that "King Triton" that she's searching for ;) --if you find him, send him my way first ok-- I'm the "sunlight" over there-- haha ;) hugs nikko :)

"Good precept Andrea." Through 'unseen thread' we have a power in life that no man can gainsay, if we will keep it untangled! "Congratulations' I see you are third place." Smile, Agape, Moses
