Notes About The Poem

*Pentecost is a Christian holiday that takes place on the 49th day after Easter.  It celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles of Jesus, Mary, and other followers of Christ, while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles.   Pentecost marks the "Birthday of the Church" (Source: Wikipedia.com)

PENTECOST IN MY HEART

Holy Spirit, You come as in Acts~
a wind that fills the quiet rooms of me,
moving through my May-worn soul
with the same breath that stirred the upper room.

You rest on me like a tongue of fire,
not fierce, but faithful~
a flame that teaches me
to trust the God who calls me His.

You speak in the language of love,
the one I knew before fear learned my name,
and suddenly my spirit understands
what it means to be filled.

In this personal Pentecost,
You do not rush; You remain~
and my heart, once silent,
begins to burn with Your holy peace.
