Penny For Your Thoughts
There were those reasons
Plenty of inspirations
For an abundance of transformations
We all want to taste a bit of luck
Watch our world turn to stars from dust
So we try to change this
Remove that
Make prayers and wishes
Sell ourselves until we fall flat
Yet we cannot see that bit of glimmer
That penny in the dirt pile
We assume we’ll chance upon it
We make it to it but don’t realize
Then we blame life
So do you so do I
It’s not about yearning, earning, searching
It’s about finding
Why can’t we see the beauty in what we find?
Always looking for what we think we own
But is actually unknown
Why can’t we be happy when we get less?
Don’t many lesses add up to more?
Throwing away anything that isn’t gold
You might have found silver but now you’ll never know
Pay attention to what you find
In yourself and life
Don’t keep in chase of perfection
Pay some praise to your reflection
It’s easy to keep striving for the best
But what’s the use if you can’t accept your limitations
Because it’s only by accepting that we can overcome.
