Pebble On the Reach

The fever of the pebble on the shore
could be iced by the ocean floor.
yet high tides and waves running to the beach
could not reach the stone.
what quake of heartbreak should the earth
feel to meet the grace of its love.
how many full moons and sunsets passed by,
and the counting stars every night in wait.
battles were fought with sticks and stones
worlds rose and fell over ages.
I watched myself through a looking glass
at the other-side of the coast through time.
what moved me was the rose that broke
when the skies cried a river for your union
from within the heart of the rock
to express my love to you.
