Pears and Lilies

Across the cold concrete steps
Are strewn pears and lilies

A very long time ago
A grave tragedy occurred here

No one saw anything
No one said a word

Dark spirits now protect the site
Somber, powerful memories still remain

At the corner of forever
Out on the edge of time

Where something means everything
But means nothing at all

Stands a figure transfixed, keenly aware
that beyond the void and

Across the cold concrete steps
Are strewn pears and lilies
