Rico Leffanta Poet Limerick

Pearl of Great Price

Kelea was a pretty girl
Who loved to surf with rip & curl
She felt so alive
When surfers would dive
Just to see Kelea's pink pearl*

*  Kelea Nui-Noho-'Ana 'Api 'Api
was said to be the most beautiful woman on
earth, married Lo Lale, High Chief of Lihu'e,
but left him to surf the waves off Waikiki.

Rico Leffanta May 28, 2019 at 5:20 PM TRUE story; she was the sister of the king and adored by everyone, but loved to surf (no bathing suits in those days). It surprises me that no one has named a surf event in Hawai'i to honour her! Aloha! Rico
