Pearl In Peril

Adorning filth
In destructive tandem
You were meant to beautify
Sadly you are unnoticeably wasted
A pearl in the sand
What is thy worth
Unless washed and washed till
It's fit to glorify a throat?

A pearl in the sand
Masterfully crafted by the crafter
Made to be pricey
Yet so inexpensive
How have thy lost thy worth?
How have thy succumbed
Without a fight to weeds?

How have the mighty fallen
Only to be washed
Back and forth by the waves?
How have you lost your lustre?
Mother of Pearl
How have you become
An old ragged woman?
