Peanuts

"PEANUTS"

ever notice the back of your door?
ever notice the coffee table?
ever notice the couch?
…the rug, the floor in the kitchen,
the table where you drink, the walls,
the ceiling, the windows???
ever notice that they are there?
probably not.
you will and it’ll be when the tree
outside moves with the wind.
you will and it’ll be when you wait
for that knock on the other side of
the door.
she says, “I love you.”
he says, “I know.”
they fight the same fire because they
want to see each other.
pain is nonsensical because it lives.
do you hear it?
do you hear the carnival music playing?
their photo booth waits.
