PEACEFUL DEFIANCE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
war-torn field lies cracked and bare,  
     where shrapnel blooms once choked the air.  
a single shoot, defiant, thin,  
     pierces the ash with trembling green.  

dew softens scars where tanks once rolled.  
     new leaves unfold, a story told  
in patient stems that reach, unbowed—  
     let peace take root, not be avowed.
