Notes About The Poem

Peace Amidst the Storm

Peace Amidst the Storm

The winds of storm are all around me
The waves wash over my heart, without mercy
They go over my head
And I lose my breath
The darkness overtakes me
My vision is lost
For a brief moment, in the distance…
I see a high, high tower
Its light dispels the darkness
A beacon before me
As I head for this tower
With every ounce of strength
I grab on and begin to climb
As I cling to the tower…
I suddenly find strength
I am high above
The waves keep crashing in
But I find safety again
High above I watch
as the storm unfolds all around me
Perched high in my tower
The peace knows no bounds
Safety from the raging winds
That try to beat my soul
The light wraps around me like a warm duvet
Darkness is dispelled
There is a certain tenacity of destruction all around me
But, no harm befalls me
as I find peace amidst the storm
