Patriotic Pause

Hate, hate
and more hate
so much it frustrates
Don’t serve that man
or that woman
put away those plates
leave them to their own fates
loving only you and me
looking out for our own mates

America, America
a new patriotic kinda wisdom.
Dividing lines
protection and devision.
Those with less who need more
will get no provision.
Left right, left right
on a collision.
Soldiers separate
parents and children.
If they get in protect us
please place them in prison!

Jobs, jobs
more of those lesser jobs.
They’re not being filled
hear us bosses sob!
Maria and Jesus gone
who’s left to butter
our corn on the cob?
We won’t pay enough
to hire Jillian or Bob.
So now who will we rob?

Answers, answers
no one has the answer.
Politicians talk slow faster.
Hate him, hate her
they are all cowards.
If we give what we got
would that be a disaster?
We’re brothers and sisters
not their masters.
share love and peace be like a Pastor.

Judgement, judgement
yes judgement will come.
Does it matter where they’re from?
Those of us with more
could give them some.
Just because he’s poor
it doesn’t make him a bum!
Help him blossom and become
A hand up instead of under our thumb.

This is a commentary on the current division within the political arena. There is enough blame to go around on both side of the divide. There seems to be no appetite for compromise. The current and former administration separated children from parents so no one holds the high ground. If we seek what we have in common, perhaps we can start working towards a sustainable future.

Hi Richard, excellent work. It seems to be this way in most places. It seems to me that no one wants to listen to the people that politicians represent. What is our world coming to. Excellent piece Richard. A Fav. Have a wonderful Saturday when it comes. Blessings....Mike.

I do hope that the situation will be remedied soon so there will be better facilities for all concern. I think that the republicans are working to fix what already was there. Enjoyed reading your work. Sara

I shudder when I watch the news; I do not like what is happening in my country. Terrorism has come to America and it's from within; rather than without. Well penned truth.

There Will never be justice on stolen land. If it is not the Blacks or Natives, then it's the Muslims, or the Mexicans, and can't forget about the Jews... all tax paying citizens that Liberty has defecated on for hundreds of years. She has loose bowels!!

A perceptive look at the future of children because of their fear of living in their own country.you have epitomized the sad situation of many souls and America can take some lessons in respect to the so called plebeians which should not exist in America. Great poem, Rick!

I can't say enough how moving this piece is, Richard. This is the current state. I follow the news closely...I won't say more, because I know how controversial this issue is, but I will side with you on this one, dear. Seems obvious to me.

Much wisdom in this, Richard. The problems are going to be very difficult to resolve because no one side will listen to them anyway. Very well done, Richard.

Here we are, just like before the Civil War and some of the very same issues. The sad thing about division is we have to ask what we are dividing up for? We are not teams! We are the balance of power and it was always meant that there would be two points of view and then compromise. Hate doesn’t give us solutions and our strength has always been in unity. At this pace, we will only be weaker. Well done John. Unity in 2020!
