Patience

When the little ones have no bread, And the earth screams out in pain, And silence is in the ocean , And acid is in the rain , Why do you ask us for patience? And when our cities are burning, And our young ones fight, And there is no recourse, When our elders have taken flight, Why do you ask us for patience? When the songs can no longer be heard, And the water cannot be drunk, And no sliver of light can be seen, When all of our ships are sunk, Why do you ask us for patience? And when we have our torches, And when we clasp our weapons, When we stand at the gates, Ready for the reckon, Will you ask us for patience?
