As I wait for a lost lover to appear
Out of the shadows, his footsteps
Remind me of how my heart bled

Speechless in dire caress
Foolish hands in sinful trite
Useless love unmeaningly vowed
The thump of a hoofbeat
Mimics my heart
As my antagonist rides on past
At last I concess defeat
