Rat-a-tat and pit-a-pat!
‘Pon my word!
Pit-a-pat and rat-a-tat!

It’s a bird –
A woodpecker knocking!
Loudest I’ve heard!

His noise shocking!.
Thrashing the habitat.
His visage mocking.

This is a great poem about a beautiful bird. Woodpeckers do good things for the environment. I like how the side reads PAT.

Nice one, Linda. I used to hear woodpeckers all the time in my old house. I like them, but it's hard to understand how they don't come down with a headache.

Interesting, I didn't know that, Joe, but it makes sense, given how hard they smack against trees, or in the case of the ones in my old neighborhood, telephone poles.
