Past My Bedtime

The concert, a singer who’s great,
Is all set for a not-too-far date.
I am sure that the show
Will be wonderful, though
It won’t start until sometime past 8.

Since I often wake up around 5,
By the time Jackson Browne did arrive,
It would be no surprise
If the lids of my eyes
Would be closed with no chance to revive.

So most likely, I’ll pass on the tix,
Though it’s something I’m sorry to nix
But my energy tank
Isn’t shrinking – it shrank!
Sadly, aging and night life don’t mix.

Oh my gosh, this was a fun one. :) Yeah, you don't want to do like I did years ago when I partied and peaked too early and slept right through the concert. Marshall Tucker Band. :) lol And ironically, the 3 letter validate to the right was CPR. :)

Correct, ma'am. Same is true with me. No more concerts in the evening for me, sadly, especially since my wife, who is a young 61, has no problem staying out until 10:30 p.m. or so. (I'll be up all night if I try it, as I know from bitter experience). So she goes to concerts with her 73-year-old sister. LOL. Said sister is four years older chronologically than I am, but 15 years younger medicinally speaking. Oh, well. C'est la vie! Loved this one, as usual, Ilene. Best, Gershon

My lids began to feel like lead at about 10 p.m. When younger I could read or study until midnight. No more. I'm out as soon as my head hits the pillow, then the dog wakes me up at about 5:30 a.m. with a gentle licking on my face. You're right: "Aging and night life don't mix." / M

I enjoyed this one! I feel sleepy watching tv at night but then I revive and can't get to sleep after 12 without my sleeping pills. Even then, I wake up too early. Aging sucks.

So true, Ilene! Even with caffeine it’s almost impossible to stay awake at times!
