Passed Her By

I took the ring I wear it
with a heavy heart
after all these years and days
I'm deadened that we started
this
farce
and that I let myself be tricked
into this union
as a young man I dreamed of marriage
and a wife, a best friend partner
to journey with
and here
I let you in on all my hidden secrets
and you used every one to unlock my
defenses
and we're stuck now
18 years in and I can't stand the thought of you
I was so young to think that you meant what you
said
I should have known
by the way you moved in on my life and family
and then insisting on a child
a wierd boy
I could take him or leave him
is he even mine?
middle aged I'd lose it all if I left
but I'm lost already
and terribly
lonely
I still dream at night of that wife
where is she?
I must have passed her by when I was being
faithful
to you.

Such a sad lonely man. His pain looms like a starless black hole. You've hit the nail on the head with this one. Outstanding Veronica. Thanks for your kind comments on my stuff. Love, Will
